THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA IS SET TO OPEN 2015 FOOTBALL SEASON AT WYOMING. UND’S 118TH SEASON OPENER WILL BE THE FIRST MEETING AGAINST WYOMING ON THE GRIDIRON, BUT THE TWO HEAD COACHES IN THIS CONTEST HAVE FACED EACH OTHER BEFORE ALBEIT IN DIFFERENT ROLES WITH DIFFERENT PROGRAMS. KICKOFF IS SET FOR 2 P.M. SATURDAY AT WYOMING’S WAR MEMORIAL STADIUM. UND HEAD COACH BUBBA SCHWEIGERT WAS THE DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR AT SOUTHERN ILLINOIS FROM 2008-13, WHILE WYOMING’S CRAIG BOHL WAS THE HEAD COACH AT A FELLOW MISSOURI VALLEY CONFERENCE PROGRAM, NORTH DAKOTA STATE, DURING THAT SAME STRETCH.  THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH TIME SINCE MOVING TO THE DI LEVEL IN 2008 THAT UND HAS OPENED A SEASON ON THE ROAD – THE PREVIOUS THREE WERE ALSO AGAINST FBS OPPONENTS. UND IS 4-3 IN SEASON OPENERS AT THE DI LEVEL WITH ALL FOUR WINS COMING AT HOME.

DUE TO A SCHEDULING ERROR BY THE DISTRICT FOOTBALL COMMITTEE THE FOLLOWING CHANGE NEEDS TO BE MADE TO THE WARROAD VARSITY FOOTBALL SCHEDULE. THE FOOTBALL GAME SCHEDULED ON 9-11-15 VS BRECKENRIDGE @ WARROAD WILL NOW BE PLAYED IN BRECKENRIDGE. GAME TIME WILL REMAIN 6:00 PM. THE FOOTBALL GAME SCHEDULED 10-2-15 @ BARNSVILLE WILL NOW BE PLAYED IN WARROAD. GAME TIME WILL REMAIN 7:00 PM. THE DISTRICT FOOTBALL COMMITTEE IS SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE THESE CHANGES MAY CAUSE.

ANOTHER SCHOOL HAS ADOPTED A TICKET POLICY AIMED AT KEEPING NORTH DAKOTA’S TRAVELING FAN BASE OUT OF ITS ARENA. THE GRAND FORKS HERALD NEWSPAPER IS REPORTING THAT ST. CLOUD STATE IS FORCING FANS TO BUY FLEX-PACKS — PRESUMABLY WITH OTHER GAMES ATTACHED — IF THEY WANT TO GET INTO THE UND-HUSKIES SERIES IN THE HERB BROOKS NATIONAL HOCKEY CENTER IN NOVEMBER. ST. CLOUD STATE’S TICKET SITE HASN’T LISTED THE DETAILS ABOUT THE FLEX-PACK YET. THE UND SERIES IS THE ONLY ONE WITH RESTRICTIONS ON BUYING SINGLE-GAME TICKETS. FANS COULD POTENTIALLY SKIRT AROUND THE POLICY BY BUYING GROUP TICKETS (20-PLUS) OR WAITING UNTIL GAME DAY, WHEN UNSOLD TICKETS WILL BE RELEASED AS SINGLE-GAME SEATS. UND, COMING OFF OF BACK-TO-BACK TRIPS TO THE NCAA FROZEN FOUR, OPENS THE SEASON WITH AN EXHIBITION GAME ON OCT. 3 AGAINST THE UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA.
