Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar has officially wrapped up her tour of all 87 counties across the state — finishing her journey in Koochiching County.

Her stops included Rainy Lake Medical Center and Minnesota North College–Rainy River, where she toured classrooms, met with students, and spoke with local community members.

Klobuchar reflected on her Iron Range roots, recalling her grandfather’s days mining ore in Ely, and emphasized the importance of preparing students for the jobs of the future — not just those of the past.

During her visit, she also discussed her ongoing efforts to strengthen U.S.–Canada relations, an issue deeply tied to northern Minnesota’s border economy.

And while it was a chilly stop on her statewide tour, Klobuchar said she came prepared — and even got to enjoy one special northern sight.

Senator Klobuchar’s visit marked a symbolic finish to her annual 87-county tour — ending where Minnesota meets Canada, right here in International Falls.

A lot of services have closed for the winter at Itasca State Park, but there’s still plenty of things open that could make for a fun winter vacation. Sandra Lichter of Itasca State Park highlights some of the park’s services that will remain open for the winter.

Lichter also mentioned a couple other services that will be open for winter and some office hour changes for winter.

Lakeland PBS in Bemidji recently announced it is canceling its long-running program Lakeland Currents following significant federal funding cuts.

The station says the loss of these essential funds has created a critical budget gap that cannot be closed without major changes. For 18 seasons, Lakeland Currents has featured conversations with local leaders, citizens, and experts on issues important to rural communities.

Topics have ranged from cancer treatment and drug addiction counseling to public school funding and family farming. The decision comes after the Trump administration rescinded more than one billion dollars in federal funding previously allocated to the Corporation for Public Broadcasting in July.

Central Boiler Companies, parent to subsidiaries Central Boiler, Altoz, and Woodmaster, proudly celebrated its 33rd consecutive year of employee bonus distribution on October 30th.

The year’s bonus amount, including the company’s match of up to 15% on employee 401K contributions from their bonus, reached $601, 971. Additionla incentives, weekly 401K matches, and hiring bonuses were not included in this total.

The owners, Dennis and Terri Brazier, shared an exciting recap of the past year, celebrating the company’s growth with the addition of new dealerships and international distributors.

Warroad, MINN. – Warroad City Council convened in regular session Monday Nov. 10 at the Warroad City Building with Mayor Tom Goldsmith presiding. A Presentation was made by John Wynne on the Small Cities Development Grant Application, and a motion was made to approve a collaborative application between multiple cities. Mayor Goldsmith explains the grant application and who is applying for the grant 

Warroad City Council approved delinquent accounts to be sent to the count for collection with taxes. That was Warroad Mayor Tom Goldsmith.

Warroad High School Senior Spotlight Exhibit on Student Research is coming up on Monday, November 17th at 6pm at Warroad Riverplace. Seniors in an advanced composition class will be presenting their 8-week research projects and theses, which also include modules that are functional and critical.

Warroad High School Senior Kate Johnson talked with KQ92/KRWB about what her and other seniors are doing with Senior Spotlight.

Senior Ilaina Fish spoke on how she started her senior spotlight and what she’s been researching

Senior Linnea Harren shared a little on who instructs the class and what her project is over.

The Holidays season has arrived, which means that many people are starting to purchase their Christmas gifts, or are planning their Holiday events. Baudette, MINN. – As the temperatures drop and snow starts to flurry, the city of Baudette is gearing to celebrate the annual Frost Fest. The celebration of Frost Fest is coming up to begin the season of winter this December. To celebrate, Lake of the Woods School will host their annual Holiday Extravaganza that Lake of the Woods Athletic Director Sam Lyon is excited to be a part of once again this year.
