Heading into the 2025 legislative sessions, one issue that the Minnesota Legislature was tasked with was fixing Minnesota’s “Fraud Problem”, after scandals like the Feeding or Future Scam stole millions from Minnesota tax payers. In response the Minnesota House started the House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Policy Committee to come up with solutions to this problem. Committee Chair Rep. Kristin Robbins (R-Maple Grove) highlights some of the successes that have come out of this committee in its first year of existence.
Another bill that’s being prioritized by the committee is a bill to establish an Office of the Inspector General. Bill author Patti Anderson (R-Dellwood) explains how that would help with the “fraud issue”.
The House Fraud Prevention and State Agency Oversight Policy Committee is the committee in the Minnesota House of Representatives that has a Republican majority. This is due to concessions that were made in the last powersharing agreement.
