LifeCare Medical Center Announces Shannon Carlson as Next President/Chief Executive Officer

ROSEAU, Minn — LifeCare Medical Center has announced Shannon Carlson as its next President and Chief Executive Officer.

Carlson was selected following a nationwide search that included 103 candidates. A board-appointed search committee narrowed the field to 2 finalists before the full Board of Directors unanimously selected Carlson for the position.

The board says Carlson’s 29 years of experience with LifeCare, knowledge of the organization and commitment to the community make him well prepared to lead the medical center into the future.

During his career with LifeCare, Carlson has helped lead several major projects, including skilled nursing facility renovations in Roseau and Greenbush, the acquisition of LifeCare Senior Living and the development of Warroad Wellness.

The board says its goal throughout the search was to find a leader who could build on LifeCare’s existing foundation and support its long-term financial success while meeting the changing health care needs of area communities.

Changes to Medicare Advantage Plans to Affect Many Minnesotans in 2027

An estimated 392,000 Minnesotans could lose their current Medicare Advantage plans in 2027 as insurers reduce coverage or leave markets across the state.

Fifteen Minnesota counties will have no Medicare Advantage options, while three counties will also lose Medicare Cost plans, leaving Original Medicare as the only option.

Medicare Open Enrollment runs October 15 through December 7. Enrollees are urged to review their coverage, including doctors, prescriptions and costs.

For help, Minnesotans can call Aging Pathways at 800-333-2433 or visit Medicare.gov.

Spilled Sugarbeets Near Casselton, ND

It’s not unusual to see a few spilled sugar beets along the road during harvest season.  But the North Dakota Highway Patrol found an entire road full of spilled beets earlier this week.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol posted a photo on Facebook showing a road covered with sugar beets.  It was on County Road 10 near Casselton near the Tharaldson Ethanol Plant. The photo is attached to this story.  Fortunately for the Highway Patrol, a nearby farmer with a tractor helped clear the road and that road was cleared in about five minutes.

If you have information on who it was that dropped the sugar beets, call the North Dakota Highway Patrol at 701-328-2447. And this serves as a reminder to all those who haul sugar beets to make sure those beets stay in your truck.
