Tomorrow at Nelson Park in Birchdale is the 35th annual Sturgeon Championship. Fish in this tournament are measured by length, not weight, and this is a catch-and-release tournament. Kyra Hasbargen and Mike Hansen spoke on how the measuring process works out on the water.
The youth tournament is for people 17 and under and runs from 12 to 2 and is free to participate in, with first prize being a four-person one-day ice fishing package. In the youth tournament, every participant heads home with a prize.
Meanwhile, the Sturgeon championship has a 25 dollar entry fee and is from 3-7. People 17 and under are 10 dollars to enter. First place at the championship is 2500 dollars.
