DNR Looking to Purchase Tree and Cone Seeds

Tree cones and seed collectors across Minnesota can make an extra buck while also helping grow future forests. The Minnesota DNR is looking for tree seed and cone collectors to help grow the state’s forests. Seed and cone consultant Nicole Schafer says the state nursery grows about 7 million seedlings a year.

The DNR will pay $60 per bushel for jack pine, $80 per bushel for red pine and $200 per bushel for black spruce species. More info can be found on the DNR’s website.
