Minnesota voters head to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 11, for the 2026 primary election. The primary determines which candidates will advance to the November general election.

Minnesota does not have political party registration. Voters choosing candidates in partisan races may vote for candidates from only one major political party; votes across multiple parties will not count.

Some local races, including city, county, township and school board contests, are nonpartisan. Polls are open Tuesday for voters who have not already voted by mail or in person.
