The Lake of the Woods Bears volleyball swept Win-E-Mac 3 sets to 0 Wednesday night. The Bears took the opening set comfortably, 25-10, but had to battle off a set point in the second before pulling out 4 of the final 5 points in a 27-25 win. Bears closed out the match with a dominant 25-7 victory in the third set.
Junior Ava Haack led the Bears offensively with 14 kills. Haack says the team had to stay composed and fight through a much tighter second set to keep the momentum on its side.
Senior setter Danika Lucek helped direct the Bears’ offense, finishing with 19 assists. That performance pushed Lucek past 550 assists on the season. She says having confidence in her teammates is a big part of making the offense work, especially when setting up Haack at the net.
Senior Sophie Block led Lake of the Woods defensively in digs, helping the Bears limit Win-E-Mac’s opportunities and finish off the sweep. Block says the team hopes to carry that energy and momentum into its next matchup Friday.
The Bears have been especially tough to beat on their home floor this season, improving to 7-0 in home matches with Tuesday’s win.
Lake of the Woods will look to keep that streak going Friday when it hosts the Fosston Greyhounds at 7 p.m. You can listen to the match live on Lake Country KQ92.
