Youth Hunting Safety Reminders

The Minnesota Youth Deer Gun season kicked off today, and our young hunters are reminded to make sure they are following proper hunter safety practices. Minnesota DNR Northwest Wildlife Supervisor Rob Baden shares some things that all hunters need to consider.

Baden says young hunters, and their adult supervisor should also keep their loved ones in the loop on where they’re going and what they’re doing.

Northerly Park Update

Northwest Angle, Minn – The Northwest Angle is developing Northerly Park currently, and KQ92/KRWB spoke with Joe Laurin, President of the Northwest Angle Edge Rider Snow Mobile Club. Laurin updates us on the latest being done on the Northerly Park project.

The Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission who handles Minnesota Parks says that a “Master Plan” is needed to create the park. Laurin shared some details from the Master Plan that was created for the park.

Laurin also mentions how families and those interested can donate to help fund Northerly Park.

MN Ag Commissioner Visits NW Region

Minnesota Ag Commissioner Thom Petersen recently toured northwest Minnesota.  R&J News spoke to Petersen about his visit.

MEA Break Programs at Itasca State Park

It’s MEA break this week, and the Staff at Itasca State Park invite you to the park this week to celebrate. Lead Park Naturalist Connie Cox says they will be holding a couple different programs at the park over the rest of MEA Break.

Cox says you can also partake in some recreational activities, and take in the fall colors that are currently gracing the park’s landscape.
