Local watersheds, and water management organizations  across the Red River Valley have been using a gamechanging technology called lidar to help with flood prevention. Grit May of the International Water Institute explains what this Lidar technology is, and how it works. 

May also explains how entities like the Red River Watershed Management Board use the data that is collected from lidar.
