ROSEAU, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation has opened bids for Roseau’s Highway 89 project, but the state has not yet approved a bid or finalized the city’s cost share. The total bid is around 9.1 million dollars, with the city’s estimated share just over 750,000 dollars. A 558,000 dollar grant could bring the city’s net cost down to about 230,000 dollars.
Community Development Coordinator Todd Peterson spoke in more detail about how the HWY 89 project’s cost share would impact the city:
Peterson talked about when the city might have a clearer idea on the timeline in which a bid would be approved by MNDOT:
Meanwhile, the pedestrian bridge is complete, with final paperwork and about 191,000 dollars in county reimbursement still pending. Peterson also discussed some city projects that were of more immediate prioritization as they begin to wrap and look toward the coming year:
The city is also awaiting approvals for ATV trail improvements and working through preliminary steps for the Roseau River water trail and city park project. That project could now be pushed to 2028, as grant approval and required historical reviews remain outstanding. KQ92 and KRWB will continue to provide updates on these projects.
