Jim Weisemeyer talks Farm Bill and Ag Tariffs

R&J Ag Reporter Nick Revier was at the International Sugarbeet Institute Crop Expo in Fargo yesterday, and had the chance to talk with Agriculture Lobbyist Jim Weisemeyer. Right now many farmers across America have questions on what’s happening, and expected to happen in Washington when it comes to agricultural legislation like the Farm Bill, and tariffs. Weisemeyer says the only certainty at this point is uncertainty, but he does give predictions on when we can expect to know more, and he also tells us what’s been happening in Washington up to this point.

Weisemeyer also told us more about what a new Farm Bill could look like and some potential issues that may come up during negotiations.

Lastly, Weisemeyer talked about tariffs, and the potential positive effects they may have in the long run, despite early concerns stemming from price increases in goods.
