The Minnesota Legislature is back in session, after a week-long break for Passover, and the Senate GOP caucus is shifting their focus to balancing Minnesota’s state budget. One area that is a likely target for funding cuts this year is Healthcare, but Senate Democrats and Republicans have different ideas on what programs to cut. Senator Jordan Rasmusson (R-Fergus Falls) tells us more about the current state of healthcare funding in Minnesota, and how the opposing sides have different healthcare priorities.
In response to these new findings and proposals, Senator Rasmusson is calling for the reallocation of state funding from healthcare for illegal immigrants to funding for nursing homes, and disability services.
The Minnesota Legislative Session has one month to come to a budget agreement, as the session ends on May 19. The two biggest issues that are expected to take up the most time in negotiations include K-12 spending, and state health care.
